Zhan Chunxian, male, Han nationality, is a native of Yuzhou City, Henan Province. He was born in 1953, entered the work force in 1970, and joined in CPC in 1972. Zhang graduated from Northeast China Heavy Machinery Institute with a Bachelor Degree in 1980, and from Harbin Institute of Technology with a Master Degree in 2002.
Zhang was served as minister of the Ministry of Transport from 2002-2005. He was also a Member of 16th and 17th CPC Central Committees and former Secretary of CPC Hunan Provincial Committee from 2005 to 2010. Currently Zhang serves as Secretary of CPC Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee and in 2012 he became a member of the Politburo of the 18th CPC Central Committee.
