Li Wei, male, Han nationality, is a native of Fengxian County of Jiangsu province. He was born in 1953, entered the work force in 1969, joined the CPC in 1973, and graduated from Shanghai TV University. He served as secretary of the Shanghai CPC Committee until from 1988 to 1991. He was elected vice-chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission in 2003. From 2010-2011 he served as Deputy Director and Party Secretary of the CPC Leading Group of the Development Research Center of the State Council. In 2011 he became Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council.
