Biography Highlight

Zhang Gong, male, Han nationality, is a native of Yuanping, Shanxi Province. He was born in 1935 and joined the PLA in 1951. He joined the CPC in 1961.

General Zhang received the majority of his military training with the PLA Beijing Military Region . His positions with the military region include directing the political department and serving as a political commissar. Zhang also was the deputy secretary of the Party committee with the military region.

After 1985, Zhang became political commissar of the PLA Chengdu Military Region and later the political commissar of the PLA Academy of Military Sciences.

In 1990, he was promoted to lieutenant general. Eight years later, he was promoted to general. He is currently Political Commissar of the PLA Academy of Military Sciences and a Vice-Chairman of the Subcommittee for Handling Proposals of the CPPCC National Committee.
