Lu Wei, male, Han nationality, is a native of Chaohu City of Anhui Province. He was born in 1960, and graduated from News Department of Guangxi University. From 2001 to 2004, he was Secretary General of Xinhua News Agency. From 2004-2011 he was Vice-President of Xinhua News Agency. From 2011 to 2014, he was Vice-Mayor of Beijing Municipality. Since 2014, he is Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China. From 2014 to 2016 he was Director of the Central LSG for Internet Security and Informationization (also known as the Central Leading Group for Cyberspace Affairs).
