Xie Fuzhan, male, Han nationality, is a native of Tianmen City, Hubei province. He was born in 1954, and obtained a master's degree from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Xie worked as a researcher for the Development Research Center of the State Council until 1999, when he became deputy director. In 2006 he became director of the National Bureau of Statistics. He was a member of the 17th CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and he served as Director of the Research Office of the State Council from 2008 to 2013.
From 2013 to 2016 he served as Governor of Henan Province and from 2016 to 2018 he was Deputy Secretary of the Henan CPC Provincial Committee. He is Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 12th Henan Provincial People's Congress. He was a member of the 18th CPC Central Committee and is now a member of the 19th CPC Central Committee. In 2018 he became President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
