Hu Haiyan, male, Han nationality, is a native of Shanghai. He was born in 1956, and received a doctorate in applied mechanics from the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He was appointed president of the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2001. Hu was awarded the prize of Science and Technology Progress by the Ministry of Aerospace of China, in 1989 and 1993 respectively. He was also awarded the prize of Science and Technology Progress by the State Education Commission of China in 1996.
