Tie Ning, a famous contemporary writer, was born in 1957 in Zhao County, Hebei Province. In 1960s she worked as an educated youth in countryside. She was vice-chairman of the China Writers Association and an Alternate Member of the 17th CPC Central Committee and a member of the 18th CPC Central Committee. In 2016 she became Chairman of the China Writers Association and Chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC).
