Wu Jichuan, male, Han nationality, was born in 1917 and is a native of Changning, Hunan Province. He graduated from the Beijing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications in 1959 and joined the Party in 1960.
Wu worked in the post and telecommunications sector for more than 30 years before becoming minister of posts and telecommunications from 1993 to 1998. He became deputy secretary and a standing committee member of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee in 1990 and he was appointed deputy head of the leading group for information work of the State Council in 1996.
Wu was an alternate member of the 14th CPC Central Committee and a member of the 15th CPC Central Committee. He was appointed minister of the Ministry of Information Industry in March 1992.
