Zeng Peiyan, male, Han nationality, is a native of Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province. He was born in 1938, graduated from Tsinghua University and joined the CPC in 1978.
Zeng worked for 20 years for the First Ministry of Machine-Building Industry. In 1982, he was dispatched to the United States to serve in the Commercial Counsel's Office of the Chinese Embassy. He returned to China in 1984 to serve in the Ministry of Electronics Industry. Over the next 18 years, he served in several leadership roles in key economic and planning organizations.
Zeng was an alternate member of the 14th CPC Central Committee and a member of the 15th CPC Central Committee. He was also a member of the 16th CPC Central Committee and its Politburo. He served as vice-premier of the State Council from 2003-2008. Zeng is now Chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE.
