Zhang Zhijun, male, Han nationality, is a native of Nantong, Jiangsu province. He was born in 1953, and graduated from university. Zhang began as chief of the research office of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee in 1975. He served as director-general there until 1996, and was elected deputy director in 2001. In 2010, he became Executive Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He is a Member of the 18th CPC Central Committee and in 2013 he became Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of State Council.
